Dear Friends of GSGH,
I wanted to send my biggest thanks to all of you who came and volunteered in
1998. It was a big year for the hospital. We continue to grow with every
group that comes and are able to treat more and more patients.
With your help we were able to provide health care to more people in the
bateys than ever. We estimated that 18,000 patients were seen over the year
in the bateys! Most of these are people who would not have had any health
care or medications if it were not for the teams and the support of their
churches.
As you know, with Hurricane Georges in September the conditions in the
bateys were made worse than ever. Luckily groups from around the US have
helped to get many of the suffering families back on their feet. Your
donations of clothing and food and medications made a huge difference in
helping the people continue on in spite of this terrible hardship.
Thank you so much for all that you have done. All of your friends look
forward to seeing you again soon in La Romana!
